I'm a geologist & educator. I'm passionate about environmental science, ethics, and broad issues of human development. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years (2010-2012) in the Western Highlands of Guatemala in the environment sector.
I'm currently living on the gorgeous Upper Peninsula of Michigan and finishing my Peace Corps Master's International degree.
"Tal" Vez en Cuando
If you're curious, "Tal vez en cuando" is an inside joke originating from my unfortunate habit in Peace Corps of picking up new phrases by ear. The "by ear" method sometimes worked well, but on occasion I would hear something incorrectly and cement it in my brain incorrectly, then repeat the same mistake over and over until someone caught it.
So it was that for six months I thought "Tal vez en cuando" meant "once in awhile" (de vez en cuando). Now that I know better I like to think that "Tal vez en cuando" would refer to a special moment, meaning something like: "Some certain time in which". In reality it still doesn't mean anything except "inarticulate gringa."
